How long should I retain my original check? What happens if I discard the check and an issue arises?

For your protection, securely store the original check for at least 60 days AFTER receiving confirmation that it has posted to your account. After 60 days, you may mark the check "VOID" and dispose of it in a way that prevents it from being presented for payment again. (Shredding is a good idea).

Important to Note: In the unlikely event that an issue should arise (after 60 days) and the original check is no longer available, you will have to contact the issuer of the check to obtain a copy of the check that can be re-submitted for deposit.

What if a check I deposited via Mobile App is Returned unpaid?

You will be notified by the Credit Union and receive a $14.50 return deposit fee. The credit union may accept the original check for deposit at the Credit Union.

Can I make loan payments using Mobile Deposit?

While you can’t apply a check directly to a loan, you can transfer available funds to a loan balance once the check has been posted to your checking or savings account using GCFCU Mobile app or Online Home Banking.
